No Masking a SmileSeptember 22, 2020 by AACD Executive Office
Pre-dental student, Caroline Palmer, was struck with inspiration this summer and started a charitable mask-making business, No Masking a Smile. Palmer set out to make masks she could sell on Instagram in order to benefit the AACD Charitable Foundation's Give Back a Smile (GBAS) program that restores the smiles of people who have sustained dental injuries through domestic or sexual abuse. GBAS relies entirely on donations and volunteers to connect survivors with cosmetic dentists who can fix their teeth at no cost to survivors.
Palmer's masks are available through Instagram direct messages @nomaskingasmile. Masks sell for $10 each.
To date, she has raised over $1,400 for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. To order a mask or learn more about Caroline's great work, see her Instagram page.
The AACD aims to create an outlet for undergraduate and postgraduate students to share their scientific findings and to promote greater interaction within the dental community. The benefits of AACD membership are numerous, to both students and dental professionals. To explore the benefits of AACD membership, click here.
