AACD Welcomes Krista Paternostro Bower, MPA, CAE, as Executive Director

A New Chapter Begins

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is pleased to welcome Krista Paternostro Bower, MPA, CAE, as its new Executive Director. Krista officially assumed the role on August 19, 2026, bringing more than three decades of association and nonprofit leadership experience to AACD.

As AACD begins this next chapter, Krista joins the Academy with a wealth of experience leading national membership organizations, certification boards, and professional societies. A Certified Association Executive (CAE) since 2008, she has built a distinguished career focused on strategic growth, operational excellence, governance modernization, financial sustainability, education, credentialing, and volunteer leadership.

Most recently, Krista served as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates, where she led significant membership growth, revenue expansion, and organizational transformation. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her collaborative leadership style, commitment to member value, and ability to build high-performing organizations that advance their missions and serve their communities.

Krista holds a Master of Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University and has extensive expertise in association management, strategic planning, education, credentialing, and volunteer leadership.

A New Chapter for AACD

Krista joins AACD at an exciting time as the Academy continues to build on the momentum of recent years and look toward the future. Her appointment follows a comprehensive national search led by an AACD Board-appointed search task force.

Her collaborative approach and focus on member value align closely with AACD’s commitment to advancing excellence in cosmetic dentistry through education, Accreditation, and professional development.

Building on a Strong Foundation

Krista’s arrival follows the tenure of Dr. Brad Olson, who served as Interim Executive Director during an important period of transition and organizational change for AACD.

Under Brad’s leadership, AACD strengthened organizational operations, supported meaningful change across the Academy, and continued to advance its mission. His leadership also helped guide the Academy through the recently concluded Scientific Session and contributed to the positive momentum AACD carries into this next chapter.

While his interim appointment has concluded, AACD is grateful that Brad will remain an important part of the Academy family and continue contributing to the profession and AACD.
